Congressman Mike Honda debates "Democratic" yet right of center, challenger Ro Khanna for District 17, at San Jose State University on Tuesday, October 7, 2014
In 2013, the city of San Jose was in a heated battle whether or not to raise the minimum wage to $10.00. Although Mayor Chuck Reed and the San Jose Chamber of Commerce led a fierce campaign to defeat the measure, San Jose overwhelmingly voted to increase the minimum wage. The higher wage is credited with reducing unemployment and increasing business.
Mike Honda's challenger, Ro Khanna, was recently endorsed by both the San Jose Chamber of Commerce who called Khanna "right of center" on business, and Mayor Chuck Reed whom Khanna called, "an American Hero."
